Playing#
Is Contact Front free?
Yes. There's nothing to buy. We may show ads on some pages to pay for the servers, never in the middle of a game.
Do I need an account?
Not to play against bots. On the home page, pick Try a game vs bots, no sign-in. The game runs in your browser and saves itself there.
To play other people online, sign in with Google or Apple. You choose a username the first time, and that's the only name other players see.
How does a turn work?
Everyone gives their orders at the same time. When the last player submits, or the deadline passes, every move and battle resolves at once and you watch it play out. The Quick Start walks through a first turn, and Moving at the same time explains what that means for chasing and catching.
How long is a turn?
The host picks when creating the game, from 2 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 12 hours, 1 day or 2 days. Short turns suit a game everyone plays in one sitting. A day or two suits a game played around work and sleep. If everyone submits early, the turn resolves at once, without waiting for the deadline.
What if I miss a deadline?
Your stacks hold where they are for that turn. Miss 2 turns in a row and a bot steps in to play your seat. The moment you submit orders again, the seat is yours.
How many games can I play at once?
Up to 3 online games that aren't over yet. Games against bots in your browser don't count.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Contact Front runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers. On a phone, add it to your Home Screen and it opens full screen like an app.
How do notifications work?
Turn them on from the home page, a game or your Profile, and you'll get a push notification when a game starts, when a turn resolves, and when a game ends. You won't get one for a turn your own submission resolved. On iPhone, notifications only work from the Home Screen app: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen, and open Contact Front from there.
Games and opponents#
How do I play with friends?
Create a game, then either copy its invite link and send it to them, or invite them by username from a seat in the lobby. Players you mark as favourites are easy to invite again. A public game also appears in the open-games list on the home page, where anyone can join it.
What are the bot levels?
Easy, Normal and Hard. Bots you play against use the level the host chose. A bot on your own team always plays Hard, so your ally never holds you back. All-bot games play Hard too.
Can I play a free-for-all?
Yes, on the United States map, with three, four or five players. Everyone is on their own and team chat is off. See Free-for-all.
Where do the sides start?
Each map has fixed starting regions, shown on its map page. In an online game, players are dealt to the starting spots at random when the game starts, with teammates kept together. The host can turn that off in the lobby to let players pick their seats.
What's the difference between quitting and conceding?
Quit game means you leave for good, and a bot plays your seat for the rest of the game. Concede is an order: your team is out once every human on the team has conceded. Both count as a loss for your rank.
Can I stop someone from joining my games?
Yes. Open the menu on their name and choose Block. You won't be seated in games together again, and their chat messages are hidden from you. Write to support@playcontactfront.com about anyone breaking the Terms of Use.
Rank and profile#
How does ranking work?
Online games count. A win earns points and a loss costs some. Wins against people, in bigger games, or against stronger opponents are worth more. Rank & points has the whole table.
Can other players see my profile?
Your username and rank are visible to signed-in players. So is your profile, with its record, statistics and achievements, unless you turn off Public profile in your Profile.
Your account#
How do I delete my account?
Write to support@playcontactfront.com from the email address you sign in with. The Privacy Policy explains what's removed and what stays in other players' game history.
I found a bug. Where do I report it?
Same address. The Contact page lists what helps us track it down.
